Tuesday night, October 24th, was the launch of Johnston County Creates 2023 held at the Selma Civic Center. My essay, Nana's Porches, can be found on page 148. I shared the table with Dot LaMotta and Dr. Wanda Johnson (not pictured). Author Hope Dougherty is seen on the 2nd picture.
I'm attaching a copied picture of a drawing my Aunt Mary did made of Nana's house before the elm tree on the left was removed sometime in the 1950s or 1960s.
The photo on the right was the travesty the house became when new owners glassed in both front porches. In my opinion, the house lost all of its previous character and charm because of it.
