Merilee's Journey

Merilee sings constantly. It's her favorite way of dealing with both the good and bad things that happen to her. Merilee’s Journey follows the life of a newly orphaned 12-year-old. Her Godparents, the only known legal guardians, refuse to take Merilee in. What will happen next?

Meri's life is affected by many people: her social worker, the group home director, a psychiatrist, her close friends and the different foster families she encounters. When she's not singing, Merilee pens her innermost thoughts in a hidden journal.

Prologue

May 9th, 2012

Merilee Nestler was twelve when she saw the inside of her first foster home that spring. This month had been unbelievably cruel, first, by losing her parents in a car accident. To make matters worse, her puppy was taken to an animal shelter. Lastly, she was sent to live among strangers while she was mourning her losses. The only child of Marnie and Charlie Nestler had loved her little family. Now her entire universe was destroyed.

Reviews:
Every reader will want to know where Merilee ends up and what becomes of her. The story had a steady stream of action, which moved along at a good pace and entirely engaged me as I read along. Really exceptional. – Cindy Draughon, author

Very interesting take on a subject not often discussed. Merilee is a very brave little girl. – Diane Marlow, beta reader

I can envision Merilee dreaming of a future where she is loved, well-educated and successful in her life. – Dot La Motta, author
